Q. Would you consider yourself a Christian?
Q. How did you discover God?
A. My parents were believers so I grew up going to church and always hearing about God. I commited my life to Christ at 4 years old, but recommited and was baptized around the age of 15.
Q. How did you discover NICS and why did you decide to work at a Christian school?
A. Through several friends that actually saw a music job posting on Facebook which was connected with the NICS schools.
Q. Has ICSU contributed to your faith? If so, how?
A. Very much so; I had gone through some really difficult times in my life just prior to coming to work for ICSU. ICSU was definitely a turning point in my life as coworkers and students became such a light in my life, reached out to me and made me feel like family. ICSU has become my home and my family and I would not be where I am today without this school.
Q. Do you have a personal testimony?
A. My personal testimony is a bit long and complicated, but the short version is that I’ve struggled with depression for many years to the point where I didn’t think I’d make it. God really had a strong hold on my life and had plans for me to become a part of the ministry here, despite the fact that I had actually decided not to come at first. I would have never imagined myself being a part of students’ lives and being a part of their paths both educationally and spiritually, but Jesus did an incredible work in my life and though I don’t feel worthy to be here, He chose to bring me here anyway. I could not be more honored to have been blessed with this community and am humbled to be a part of it. I was close to giving up, but He reached down and rescued me and the love Christ has for me, amazes me beyond words, every day.
Q. Did God work in your life? If so, how?
A. Similar to what I mentioned above, God’s work in my life was quite literally rescuing me from the edge and bringing me into a place of rest and love in Him. It is a daily devotion to Him to keep my mind and heart at peace and rest, but I know it is so much better than anything I could imagine outside of Him. So many times I’ve walked away from Him saying “not for me” and over and over He has come after me and shown me His unending inexpressible love for me and brought me back in, every time.
Q. When you think of “God”, what comes to your mind first?
A. Love. Perfectly just and perfectly loving. When we have a right to expect nothing, God instead, gives us everything.
Q. If you could ask God one question, what could it be?
A. How could you love someone like me? And yet, technically, I already know the answer. It just seems impossible to wrap one’s head around this love, and yet, it’s free for all of us, no matter what. Simply ask.
